The nights are drawing in and that can mean only one thing - it's hot chocolate season! I love this time of year, when the variety of hot chocolates burst onto the marketplace just in time for Christmas.

A while ago I had the pleasure to see Hotel Chocolat's Velvetiser in action and today I've received an email letting me know there are new winter flavours of hot chocolate now available. Christmas is coming!

Clementine is a great choice for winter and evokes all sorts of warming nostalgic thoughts.

Salted caramel is on trend at the moment, and the sweetness from this should pair nicely with the tangy orange vibes, all tempered by a subtle salty undertone. Both flavours combine with a 50% milk chocolate base. Hotel Chocolat describes it as "juicy, malty, and not too sweet".

Designed for use in the Velvetiser, it's available as a 350g pack of 10 single-serve sachets here (£12).

Maple & Pecan Hot Chocolate

Autumnal flavours of maple and pecan blended with a 50% milk chocolate base sounds like the perfect recipe for a warming hot chocolate. The distinctive nuttiness should pair well with the depth of the flavour offered by the maple syrup.

Designed for use in the Velvetiser, it's available as a 350g pack of 10 single-serve sachets here (£12).

Dark Mint Hot Chocolate

Mint hot chocolate combines the best of both worlds - an after dinner mint with the warming hug of hot chocolate. In this refreshing hot chocolate, Tasmanian peppermint pairs with 70% dark chocolate to create that distinctive flavour. It's so good, customers are demanding it becomes a permanent addition to Hotel Chocolat's hot chocolate line-up.

Top tip: Stock up on this one and save some for summer, when you could make a refreshing mint chocolate milkshake using your Velvetiser.

Designed for use in the Velvetiser, it's available as a 350g pack of 10 single-serve sachets here (£12).

Gingerbread Hot Chocolate

For me, gingerbread is the key flavour of Christmas. Such is my love, I have a constant supply of German Lebkuchen on tap throughout December.

This hot chocolate fuses a 50% milk chocolate base with the festive spices of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger to give a gentle warmth and depth to the hot chocolate. This one sounds like Christmas in a mug!

Designed for use in the Velvetiser, it's available as a 320g pack of 10 single-serve sachets here (£12).
