The Mixed Selection from Matcha Chocolat is a collection of 16 freshly made chocolates.
The selection itself changes due to the ongoing experimentation and search for new ingredients by founder Katie Christoffers, but the Oxfordshire-based company says that 5-7 varieties will be included included in each box.
The chocolates use an interesting blend of spices, herbs, fruit and flowers in tandem with high quality couvertures from Felchin and from Michel Cluizel's Premier Cru range.
The chocolates all look fantastic, making use lots of swirly, colourful motives. In the Mixed Selection I was lucky enough to be trying out, there was an excellent variety of chocolates such as a delicate and fragrant Almond Marzipan, a deliciously moreish Vanilla Salted Caramel and a memorably warming truffle containing Yamazaki 10-year-old single malt whiskey, topped with toasted sesame seeds.
The Tonka Bean Caramel was as lovely as its heart-shaped exterior hinted it would be and the award winning Vietnamese Cinnamon was a stand-out addition, with the subtle notes of the Pink Grapefruit also hitting the spot.
Retailing at £15.95, the Mixed Selection delivers a high quality set that is thoughtful and interesting, offering a range of flavour combinations that make it a very good starting point for exploring Matcha's delicious chocolates. A set to savour, to think about but ultimately to enjoy.
The Mixed Selection is available to order online from Matcha Chocolat's online store.
