Hundreds of events planned for Chocolate Week

A week-long celebration of chocolate kicks off next Monday with the return of Chocolate Week.

Hundreds of chocolate themed events will be happening around the UK throughout Chocolate Week, which was dreamed up to promote high quality chocolate and chocolatiers. Some of the events include:

- The Manchester Chocolate Festival, part of a wider Food & Drink Festival, will see top chocolatiers showing off their wares and will also feature the "world's first popup bean-to-bar chocolate factory".

- Leading Chocolatier, William Curley, will be launching his brand new book, Chocolate Couture.

- Hotel Chocolat launch tasting adventures pack to encourage consumers to hold chocolate tastings at home

The showpiece event of the week is the two-day Chocolate Unwrapped exhibition, which takes place at Vinopolis, near London Bridge. The immersive event features stands from up to 40 top chocolatiers from across the world and is expected to attract thousands of visitors.  

Names you can expect to find at Chocolate Unwrapped include Artisan du Chocolat, Valrhona, William Curley, Paul a Young, Amedei, Duffy Sheardown, Idilio, Hotel Chocolat, Original Beans, Lauden, Sir Hans Sloane and Paul Wayne Gregory.

Swiss Chocolates From Betty's°

Fritz Bützer, who changed his name to Frederick Belmont when he settled in Harrogate, learned to become a confectioner and chocolatier while travelling through Switzerland and France. In 1919, he opened Betty's Tea Room in the Yorkshire town which has since become an institution. The company still makes and sells a wide range of chocolates using the finest Swiss Grand Cru.
