So, I've tried Frank's divinely good coffee chocolate bar, and his curious raspberry bar. But there was a third bar that caught my eye when I shopped on his website - one made with oat milk.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure how you milk an oat (and I probably don't want to know either!). Nevertheless, I was curious to taste this vegan milk-chocolate alternative so I ordered a bar.

Packaging

Once again, we've got the sleek and minimalist cardboard carton, with a black and cream colour scheme. There's not much in the way of text on the front of the box except for the product name, Frankly Delicious logo, and the statements that this is single-origin bean-to-bar chocolate.

The cream and black packaging

On the reverse, there's a brief paragraph explaining that oat milk is no longer the reserve of just your mug of coffee. The box promises a "sweet and creamy" bar "with a subtle oat flavour".

As I noted on my previous two reviews, there's no mention about the work that goes into making this bar (other than it's made in the UK), and this once again feels like a missed opportunity. There is, however, a brief introduction to the Frankly Delicious ethos, and a statement explaining Frankly Delicious contributes to the Global Goals movement.

As is the case for Frank's handiwork, the ingredients list for this 60g bar is minimal:

Frankly Delicious Vegan Oat Milk Chocolate ingredients:
British sugar, organic cocoa butter, oat flour, organic cocoa beans.

Like the raspberry white chocolate bar, this product doesn't contain any dairy products so is suitable for vegans. It is produced in a kitchen that handles nuts and milk. There's no nutritional information either on the box or on the website, but the fact that sugar is listed as the dominant ingredient suggests you should try to indulge only in small chunks of this bar at a time.

I'm not sure what I expected to see but I think it was broadly this:

Frankly Delicious Vegan Oat Milk Chocolate Bar
The rich brown hued chocolate bar

The colour is rich and satisfying, as is the mirror-like sheen to the bar. The aroma is a feast for the senses too, with vivid images of chocolate porridge and a freshly baked brown bread loaf dancing in my mind.

Clean and crisp snaps can be heard as you break off triangles of this bar.

As the chocolate begins to melt in your mouth, the rich cocoa notes emerge. There's notes of coffee and leather in there, with a hint of smokiness and a trace of caramel. As those flavours dance around, the flavour of the oats emerges, adding delicious notes of sweet flapjack into the mix.

The cocoa notes leads and the oat notes finish this medley. Into the aftertaste there's a satisfying mix between the two.

This bar is highly addictive, especially as that sudden change from the rich cocoa notes into sweet oat notes will mesmerise, and you'll want to experience that over and over to unlock all its intricacies.

I still have a soft spot for the irresistible Caffé Latte flavour of Frank's Coffee White Chocolate bar but this is also another bar you ought to try. It happens to be vegan-friendly but I think there's plenty of non-vegan folk out there that would happily enjoy this dairy milk alternative chocolate bar.

A delightful alternative to dairy milk-based chocolate. The oats lend a certain porridge/flapjack quality to the chocolate but it's carefully balanced against the nuances of the cocoa. It doesn't mask or detract from the cocoa, and the pair sing and dance together superbly as a double-act.
