Marathon Bars Are Back (For Autumn)

My parents are adamant that Snickers bars were better when they were called 'Marathon' bars. I don't think they're alone, with many people of a certain age preferring the Marathon branding.

While Marathon bars were around during my childhood, I can only ever remember seeing Snickers bars on the shelves, a name that was first given to the old Marathon bar three decades ago.

In 1990, the Marathon packaging disappeared off the supermarket shelves in a bid by Mars to align the UK and Ireland with the rest of the world.

This year, 4-bar multipacks of special-edition Marathon bars are available across the country for a limited time.

Morrison’s stores will exclusively stock Marathon bars in the run up to Christmas 2019, at which point they will be consigned back to the history books. They should be available in-store throughout September, October, and November.

The retro special edition Marathon packaging is being used by Mars to commemorate 85 years of the corporation making chocolate in the UK.

Marathon or Snickers? What do you call them? Let me know in the comments below.
